On Oct. 5, 2020, Iowa State University Extension Cropping Systems Specialist Mark Licht told Dustin Hoffman, a farm broadcaster with the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network, cover crops can help farmers alleviate some of the problems caused by adverse weather during the 2020 growing season.

In the interview, Licht said cover crops help sequester unused nitrogen that could leech away with a spring rain event.
